Battlefield 6 has been a massive success for EA already, launching with record-breaking player counts and sales numbers. Now, the battle royale experience it has been teasing prior to launch looks like it’s ready for prime time too. The company has announced that this part of the experience will be launching tomorrow, October 28, and surprisingly, it will be fully free-to-play. The mode has now been given the name REDSEC, short for Redacted Sector.

Battlefield Studios is planning to launch the mode with a gameplay trailer tomorrow at 8am PT / 11am ET. This is the same launch window as the Season 1 kick-off of Battlefield 6, which is carrying a new map and new modes. It’s unclear if the mode will require the Battlefield base game, despite being free-to-play, or have its own method of playing.

While not much details about the mode are out yet from official sources, leakers and dataminers have been raving about the battle royale for months now. The October 28 launch has been a rumor that has been going around for some time too, and matches up with Battlefield Studios’ new reveal.

The battle royale has been a part of community testing, so there is some information out there. The mode will reportedly feature 100 players in every round, split into 25 four-player squads. There will be multiple classes to choose from as well, changing the loadout and abilities of each player, though these cannot be changed once a game starts. As expect from the genre, the final squad remaining will be the victor. It’s unclear if solo and duo playlists will be available too.
