The co-op survival horror title is based on Red Barrels’ Outlast series and will remain in early access until the end of the year.
Red Barrels’ The Outlast Trials, a co-op horror title based on the Outlast series, has performed very well since launching into early access. The developer confirmed over 500,000 units sold in the first week. It’s also received some acclaim from critics (check out our thoughts here).
Set in the Cold War era, The Outlast Trials sees human test subjects kidnapped by the Murkoff Corporation fighting for survival. You can have up to four players on a team or go it alone, completing objectives in Trials (which are more story-focused) or MK-Challenges (which are shorter and take place in revamped map sections).
Of course, you won’t be alone, as various terrifying enemies will try to stop you. There are tools for blinding and stunning them, healing your team, and more, but you can’t progress without completing the objectives.
The Outlast Trials is planned to be in early access till the end of the year, though that could change based on feedback. Upcoming features include new trials, levels, seasonal progression and more, so stay tuned in the coming months.
