Failbetter Games of Sunless Sea and Sunless Skies fame is shifting gears to a farming sim with its next project- though with an intriguing twist.

Failbetter Games has delivered solid survival and RPG experiences with Sunless Sea and Sunless Skies, but with its next game, it’s opting for a different approach. At the PC Gaming Show, the studio unveiled Mandrake, a narrative-driven farming sim with an intriguing twist.

The twist, of course, is that narrative focus, as well as the whimsical and somewhat mysterious air surrounding the cast of characters you’ll interact with and get to know over the course of the game. The announce trailer also showcases farming gameplay, home customization and expansion mechanics, exploration across a variety of locations (such as towns and forests), and more. By the looks of it, there’s going to be a lot to unpack in the game. Check out the trailer below.

Mandrake is currently confirmed to be in development for PC. There’s no word yet on a release date or window, but the game can be wishlisted on Steam.
