Game Freak has released an update for the RPG duo that kicks up their performance to 60 FPS on the imminent Nintendo Switch 2.

In the lead up to the Nintendo Switch 2’s release, Nintendo announced that Pokemon Scarlet and Violet would be included in a list of several first party Switch 1 titles that will be receiving free upgrades for the Switch 2. For Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, that was confirmed to entail improved performance, and now, we can see that in action.

Given how widely the RPG duo’s frame rates were criticizing upon launch back in 2022 (among a host of other technical issues), this performance bump comes as a pleasant surprise. The Nintendo Switch 2 is due out worldwide on June 5. Other Nintendo titles to receive free upgrades for the Switch 2 include Super Mario Odyssey, The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, and others.
