Quality Mode runs at 30 FPS and focuses on fidelity, while Performance Mode offers 60 FPS gameplay at a slight cost to visuals.
From the trailers to more extensive gameplay, Kojima Productions’ Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is shaping up to be one of the more gorgeous games of this generation. Thankfully, whether you favor a higher resolution or smoother performance, the PS5 exclusive caters to both.
Game Informer’s recent preview of the title confirmed that it includes Quality Mode, which is “fidelity-focused,” and Performance Mode, which runs at a “smooth 60 frames per second.” The latter does cause a “relatively small graphical hit,” with “frequent grass pop-in” cited as the biggest issue. The Game Awards host Geoff Keighley followed up by confirming that Quality Mode runs in 30 FPS.
This is on a regular PS5, and though it confirmed PS5 Pro support, the development team has yet to outline enhancements. Stay tuned for further details in the coming weeks, especially since the title recently went gold.
Death Stranding 2: On the Beach launches on June 26th. It unfolds 11 months after the first game’s events, starting in Mexico and venturing to Australia as Sam works with the organization Drawbridge to reconnect the people.
