Developer Daedalic Entertainment talks about bringing the iconic Gollum to life, and sheds light on how he’s portrayed in the game.
Owing to its central premise and the iconic character it’s choosing to focus on, The Lord of the Rings: Gollum has turned quite a few heads in the lead-up to its launch, and ahead of its imminent release, developer Daedalic Entertainment has released a new “making of” video that focuses on the tortured Hobbit and how the game portrays him. Check it out below.
The developer talks about Gollum’s split personalities and his inner conflict and how that will have a huge role to play in the game’s story and gameplay, while also talking about the character’s visual design in the game and how it will differentiate from the movies.
The actual mechanics of traversal and combat, too, revolve around Gollum himself, with his unique physical properties making for a much more nimble and agile character that emphasizes parkour, but a relatively less powerful one who favour stealth over up-close combat.
The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is set to launch on May 25 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
