Players have extensive freedom to explore as Donkey Kong, mining Banadium Gems and tackling mysterious Voided Terrain.
Nintendo’s Donkey Kong Bananza is one of several titles that received extensive new gameplay during the first Treehouse: Live stream. Launching on July 17th, exclusively for the Switch 2, the premise sees Donkey Kong dealing with the emergence of new Banadium Gems on Ingot Isle.
Along with several other Simian residents, he takes to mining the precious new material and finding new Golden Bananas. The beginning highlights the sheer destructibility of everything and how Donkey Kong can tear chunks of the environment off. These can be used as weapons or projectiles, but each has unique properties (including explosions).
DK can also use these chunks to Turf Surf, with the duration determined by the durability of said materials. Some environmental hazards, like thorns, are not destructible, so you’ll have to use Turf Surf to traverse them. He can also smack the ground to pick up individual items and deepen holes.
A new villain soon emerges and thanks to some mysterious magic, sends Ingot Isle into the depths. Donkey Kong must traverse through each layer to find out what’s going on, accompanied by a mysterious talking rock that can help destroy new Voided Terrain. Stay tuned for more details and gameplay on Donkey Kong Bananza shortly.
