While we still don’t know anything about Season 2 of Marvel Rivals, the game’s developers at NetEase are already looking beyond the upcoming season. The studio confirmed they already have the designs for Season 3 and Season 4 completed, though it’s still being worked on (obviously).

As for Marvel Rivals Season 2, the studio said it is “ready and set to go,” though there’s no set date for it revealed yet.

Expect Team Ups in Marvel Rivals to Be Adjusted in Season 2

In an interview with PC Gamer, game director Guangyun Chen confirmed that designs for Season 3 and even S4 have been completed, stating, “The content for Season 2 is ready and set to go. The designs for Seasons 3 and 4 have also been completed and are currently under intensive development! Overall, everything is progressing smoothly.”

This is good news, as it means NetEase has multiple seasons planned in advance, which means players won’t be starved for new content.

In the same chat, Chen talked about Team Ups in the hero shooter, and not only confirmed we’ll see new Team Ups in Season 2, but even old ones will be adjusted. “Team-Up skills are dynamic…Starting from Season 2, we will introduce new Team-Up skills with the seasonal update and adjust some existing ones. Together with seasonal overall balance adjustments, this will create a new combat environment and experience for the season.”

While we did see new Team Ups in Season 1, it was for the new characters introduced. Perhaps in Season 2, we’ll see some of the old roster members get new Team Up combinations, or perhaps see existing ones change drastically? One can hope.

While NetEase hasn’t given a date for Season 2 yet, it should be kicking off soon, since we’re already in the tail end of Season 1. As for the new characters incoming for the second season, it’s hard to say which ones will be introduced given there have been so many characters datamined. Personally, I’m hoping it’ll be the X-Men, which was some of the earliest characters datamined from existing files.
