With Call of Duty Warzone (and Black Ops 6 to a lesser extent), plagued by cheaters. It seems part of Activision has finally caved to community outcry, as starting in Season 2, console-only crossplay will be enabled — at least in Ranked Play.

The announcement was made as part of an Activision Community Update article, in which the company provided updates on the Ricochet Anti-Cheat team, upcoming updates to Black Ops 6 and Warzone, and more.

Console-Only Crossplay Should Lessen The Cheaters In Black Ops 6 And Warzone

While the argument about which platform (console vs. PC) is best for gaming can go on for ages. It’s hard to argue that when it comes to cheaters, hacking tools, and whatnot, the experience is significantly better on consoles. This is because the console infrastructure is usually a closed system compared to PC.

According to Activision, “We’ve heard the feedback from players about wanting the choice to toggle cross-play in Ranked Play since its launch earlier this season, and in the spirit of improving the gameplay experience, we’re returning to the way we’ve traditionally handled cross-play. In Season 02, we are enabling the ability to disable cross-play for console players who want to compete only against other console players.”

This feature is being tested and will go live for Black Ops 6 and Warzone when Season 2 rolls around on January 28. The developers will monitor it closely and consider further changes to “prioritize the integrity of the ecosystem.”

More details about this feature ill be revealed closer to launch, per Activision.
