The co-op shooter’s Steam concurrent player count shot up to over 137,000 players, the highest it has been in over half a year.
Helldivers 2 is without a doubt one of the biggest games of 2024, and appropriately enough, it seems like it’s ending the year on a high. At The Game Awards, developer Arrowhead Game Studios showcased a major new update for the co-op shooter titled Omens of Tyranny, adding a new faction, enemy types, planets, and more. In the aftermath of the update, the game has enjoyed a significant resurgence in player numbers.
Over recent weeks, Helldivers 2 had settled into an average of 20-30k concurrent players on Steam, but as per SteamDB, since the aforementioned update went live, Helldivers 2’s Steam concurrent player count has climbed as high as 137,735 players. That, incidentally, is the highest that the game’s Steam concurrent player count has been in over half a year, since the PlayStation Network account linking fiasco in May. It’s all-time peak, of course, is over 438,000 players, which it hit shortly following its launch in February.
Helldivers 2 is available on PS5 and PC. In November, it was announced that the game had surpassed 15 million players across both platforms.
