The console modkit will allow players to “create mods from the smallest ones to big total conversions”, as per developer GSC Game World.
The S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series has always had quite an active modding community, to the extent that we’ve all sort of taken for granted that at least on PC, the upcoming S.T.A.L.KE.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl is going to boast full and extensive mod support (something that developer GSC Game World has confirmed as well). But what about console players? Well, according to the studio, similar mod support will be available on Xbox Series X/S as well.
Speaking with YouTube channel Radio Times Gaming (via Pure Xbox), technical producer Yevhenii Kulyk revealed that S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 will indeed boast modding support on Xbox Series X/S, same as the PC version.
“We are aware that our player base, especially the old ones, are waiting [to see] that our game will support mods as well,” Kulyk said. “We’re bringing the mods to console, so they will be available on the Xbox as well as the PC.”
And exactly how extensive can we expect the console version’s modding tools to be? As per Kulyk, they’ll be pretty darn extensive, allowing players to create all manner of mods of varying sizes.
“Wwe are basically creating and preparing a big toolkit that will provide the mod makers with all necessary tools to create mods from the smallest ones, to like, big total conversions [of the game],” Kulyk said.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl is due out on November 20 for Xbox Series X/S and PC. It will also be available day one with Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass.
