After months of speculation, GSC Game World confirmed that the STALKER: Legends of the Zone trilogy is coming to the Nintendo Switch next week.
This set includes STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl, Clear Sky, and Call of Pripyat. Each game can be purchased and downloaded separately, though for almost two decades, players have preferred binging through all three in a row.
How Much Space Does Each STALKER Game Take?
Curiously enough, the biggest game in the pack is the earlier STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl. The 2007 pioneer requires about 7.4 GB of free space.
STALKER: Clear Sky needs 6.2 GB, despite having the same maps as Shadow of Chernobyl plus the Red Forest, Limansk, Abandoned Hospital, and Great Swamp areas.
Finally, STALKER: Call of Pripyat clocks in at only 5.5 GB. This optimization masterpiece reduced the number of maps to three (Zaton, Yanov, and the outskirts of Pripyat).
Call of Pripyat made them significantly bigger than the selection available for Clear Sky and Shadow of Chernobyl, so you get better gameplay and a lighter hard drive to boot.
The numbers published spell out good news compared to the less fortunate PlayStation 4 stalkers.
The Sony console port requires 35.7 GB for all three games. STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl is 12.4 GB on PS4, versus 13.4 GB for Clear Sky, and 9.9 GB for Call of Pripyat.
Preparations for STALKER 2
GSC Game World has been marketing the trilogy heavily ahead of the planned release of STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl.
The much-anticipated sequel has been in development for about a decade now, and it has had a rollercoaster of a time ahead of its release.
The game faced delays due to the pandemic and then got pushed back multiple times as the developers found themselves under fire after the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
Making the STALKER: Legends of the Zone trilogy available on a host of consoles helps generate revenue ahead of STALKER 2 and keeps new players clued in on the story so far.
