PSSR Will Also Work with PS VR2 Games in the Future

PlayStation’s lead system architect Mark Cerny has confirmed that the company’s proprietary supersampling tech will also eventually support the PlayStaton VR2.

When the PS5 Pro launches this November, one of the more intriguing new things it will bring to the table will be Sony’s new proprietary supersampling technology, dubbed PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR), which will allow games on the enhanced console to run with better fidelity thanks to AI upscaling.

In a preview published by CNET, lead system architect Mark Cerny also additionally revealed that PSSR will work with PS VR2 games “in the future”, too. How long after the PS5 Pro’s release support will arrive for the virtual reality headset remains to be seen, while it should also be interesting to see if PSSR will be supported when using the device to play PC VR titles using the headset’s PC adapter.

PS5 Pro is set to launch on November 7. It will retail for $699.99, and will launch with 40-50 PS5 Pro Enhanced titles. That will be in addition to support for 8K gaming and VRR, as well as a 2TB SSD.
