Baldur’s Gate 3 Crosses 1 Million Mod Installs Less Than 24 Hours After Patch 7’s Release

Currently available for PC, Patch 7 adds official modding support and tools for the RPG. It arrives in October for consoles and Mac.

The long-awaited Patch 7 finally went live for Baldur’s Gate 3 last week, bringing new evil endings and cinematics, a revamped split-screen experience, and mod support to PC. The latter has been quite popular – studio founder and game director Swen Vincke revealed that over one million mods were installed less than 24 hours after the patch released.

Unfortunately, those on Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and Mac must wait until next month for the patch to drop since Larian must fulfill “the necessary technical checks and requirements.” Expect a more definitive release date in the coming weeks.

As for the future, Patch 7 isn’t the end of support for the critically acclaimed RPG (which has sold around 15 million copies as of March 2024). The development team is currently working on optimizing performance, gameplay tweaks, and other improvements alongside heavily-requested features like cross-play and Photo Mode.
