Concord Still Has A Secret Level Episode Despite Its Cancellation

Despite being pulled from sales two weeks after its release, Concord will still have an episode in Amazon’s upcoming anthology series, Secret Level.

Secret Level, helmed by the creators of Love, Death & Robots, will feature 15 episodes with stories centered on hefty video game IPs.

These include games in the PlayStation Studios’ portfolio, alongside Armored Core, The Outer Worlds, New World: Aeternum, Spelunky, Warhammer 40,000, and more.Although it’s now being scrubbed from existence, it seems like Concord will still have an episode in the show, according to IGN‘s conversations with a source.

That’s because the show has probably wrapped up, and a last-minute decision to pull an episode from the show does not sound realistic.

While Prime Video has not issued a public announcement regarding the Concord episode in Secret Level, the anthology series will likely feature one of PlayStation’s most expensive disasters in the last decade.

While we can only estimate sales numbers, Sony’s decision to remove the game from the market indicates the extent of its huge commercial failure.

Concord’s fall marked yet another failure in the live-service gaming realm. Despite high production values and grand ambitions, most live-service games prove to be costly disasters for companies.

Concord was bound to face challenges from the outset, though. Priced at $40, the game seemed destined for failure against Valorant and Overwatch, which are both free-to-play titles.

Additionally, Concord lacked standout gameplay mechanics that could set it apart from the genre’s leading games, which resulted in its demise.

Although players are now scrambling for the platinum trophy, today marks the end of the game’s two-week lifespan.

Despite the many redemption arcs and comeback stories in the game industry, Concord’s eight-year development process seems to require a new approach for a new future.

Currently, the only thing to look forward to about Concord is its episode in the Secret Level show.
