Game director Ed Boon and the team at NetherRealm could finally reveal the fighter’s previously teased story DLC at today’s event.
NetherRealm Studios’ Mortal Kombat 1 has received its final DLC fighter with Takeda, but there’s Year 2 content in the works. The developer will reveal more at a San Diego Diego Comic-Con panel today from 2 PM to 3 PM PDT.
Before that, series co-creator and game director Ed Boon teased what fans can look forward to, such as “kontinuing” the story, “future fighters,” and “big surprises.” The first bit points towards a reveal of the previously announced paid DLC, which could launch this year. Further details are unknown, but Boon teased last year that it would be similar to Mortal Kombat 11’s Aftermath expansion.
As for upcoming fighters, datamining reportedly points to the addition of series veterans like Noob Saibo, Cyrax and Sektor. Guest characters will allegedly include Terminator’s T-1000, Scream’s Ghostface and Conan from Conan the Barbarian. What could the surprises be? We’ll have to wait and find out.
Mortal Kombat 1 is available for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
