PS5’s Next Beta Update Starts July 25th, Adds Adaptive Charging for PS5 Slim

Participants can also test our personalized 3D audio profiles and customize Remote Play settings for each user on their console.

The latest system software update for PS5 is live, but the closed beta for the next is nearly upon us. Going live tomorrow, July 25th, for select participants in the U.S., Canada, U.K., Germany, France and Japan, it adds new features like personalized 3D audio profiles.

It allows customizing separate audio profiles for earbuds, headsets and more with the help of various sound tests. The update also lets you tailor Remote Play settings for different users, limiting access to those who sign into your PS5 for the same.

While both of the above are available to all PS5 models, those utilizing the latest (better known as the PS5 Slim) can now enable adaptive charging for controllers. These include the DualSense, DualSense Edge, PlayStation VR2 Sense and Access controllers. The feature allows for adjusting the amount of charging when the console is in rest mode (depending on the current battery level).

It will even stop sending power to the USB ports if you haven’t connected a controller. The current update doesn’t have a release window, so stay tuned for further details in the coming months.
