A new video offers insight into the creation of the moon for the purposes of the upcoming open world title.
Star Wars Outlaws is set to deliver the first proper open world Star Wars experience to date when it launces next month, and though many of the planets and moons that players will be exploring in the game – from the deserts of Tattooine to the dense civilization of Canto Bight – will be familiar to fans of the Star Wars IP, there will be at least one location that’s going to be entirely new. That’s going to be Toshara, a moon created entirely from scratch for the game by developer Massive Entertainment.
In a new video published by IGN, members of the game’s development team have offered new insight into the location’s creation for the game, while also offering additional details on its lore, topography, and more.
A windswept planet inspired by the African savanna, Toshara will feature many a unique characteristics to encourage players to explore, including deposits of the bright, orange material known as Amberine, which also plays an important role in the moon’s lore. Players will also spot several naturally formed ramps made of Amberine throughout the moon that they’ll be able to use for stunts and jumps while driving their speeders.
Beyond Amberine, there will be plenty of old shipwrecks to explore, Empire bases to discover, and of course, plenty of criminal factions and elements to deal with. Other than the vast, rolling, windswept plains of the moon, you’ll also explore the densely packed and seedy city of Mirogana, which is nestled inside an enormous mountain and carved straight into its rock to protect it from the moon’s high-speed winds.
Star Wars Outlaws launches on August 30 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
