Zeus, Poseidon, and more return, but players will run into plenty of new Greek deities like Apollo and Hestia on their mission to slay Chronos.
Supergiant Games streamed roughly three hours of the upcoming technical test for Hades 2, showcasing the combat and the initial first section of the game. However, it also highlighted the new and returning characters alongside some Boons.
Newcomers include Hecate, the headmistress of the witches and Melinoë’s teacher; Nemesis, a child of Nyx and Retribution Incarnate; and Odysseus, a tactician who also desires the death of Chronos. Skelly returns, now going by Schelemeus but still serving as a practice target for attacks. Hypnos is also present, though he slumbers and can’t be awakened (for now).
Some new Gods include Apollo, with Light-based attacks, and Hestia, who provides the Scorch status on weapon hits. The latter can also increase your Magick restoration at the cost of max health. Of course, classic Gods like Poseidon, Demeter, Aphrodite, Artemis and Zeus return with new ailments and Boons, like Blitz, which strikes enemies with a lightning bolt if you deal 120 damage. Other characters, like Arachne, provide services like weaving clothes that provide armor on top of your health and changing the color of Melinoë’s outfit.
Charon’s Shop, Poms of Power and the Daedalus Hammer also return (with the hammer empowering Omega Attacks as well). The Fated List with minor prophecies for players to fulfill is also present, conferred by Moros, Doom Incarnate and an emissary of the Three Fates. By completing these prophecies, players can obtain rewards.
Alongside embarking on runs, Melinoë can also engage in fishing and farming. If you plant Nightshade seeds in the soil, they’ll grow into plants that provide rewards. You can unlock other passive benefits, like becoming alerted to valuable resources. Gathering tools like the Silver Spade also help in acquiring the same.
The Hades 2 technical test starts soon for PC, and is estimated to last more than a week but shorter than a month. Early access rolls out once it’s complete, so stay tuned for more details.
