Fallout 4’s Next-Gen Update Arrives on April 25

Bethesda’s post-apocalyptic RPG is finally getting native Xbox Series X/S and PS5 versions, bringing improved resolutions, 60 FPS support, a new quest, and more.

Bethesda announced all the way back in 2022 that it was working on native versions of Fallout 4 for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, but the wait for the update has dragged on longer than expected. In December, the company confirmed that the update would be coming sometime in 2024, and as many have guessed, it’s set to align with Amazon’s Fallout series releasing worldwide.

Hot on the heels of the TV show’s release and widespread critical acclaim, Bethesda has announced that Fallout 4’s next-gen update is finally arriving on April 25 for free, bringing native versions of the game to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S at long last. The update will bring new Performance and Quality modes, increased resolutions, support for up to 60 FPS gameplay, and other stability improvements and fixes.

Crucially, Bethesda has also revealed that it’s adding a new quest to the game. Titled Echoes of the Past, the quest will introduce the pre-war cabal known as the Enclave and task players with stopping them from “spreading their dangerous ideology and gaining a foothold in the Commonwealth.” Additionally, several previously-released Creation Club items will also be added to the game.

Meanwhile, on PS4 and Xbox One, the update will bring stability improvements and login and quest fixes, while a PC update will also be releasing, accompanied by the game being verified for the Steam Deck and releasing for the Epic Games Store. Read more on that through here.

Fallout 4 is currently available on Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
