“I don’t think the release date would be far from now,” says director Naoki Hamaguchi, who also revealed he enjoyed playing in Graphics mode.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth launched this past Friday worldwide, following widespread critical acclaim (check out the accolades trailer). However, even after a patch that improved the visual quality of Performance Mode in the demo and game, players are still complaining about the same. Director Naoki Hamaguchi acknowledged this and confirmed another update is coming soon.
Speaking to the Filipino site One More Game while visiting the country, he said, “We’ve received a lot of feedback on whether the graphics in the performance mode will be improved or not. We hear you and are currently working on an update patch to improve that aspect. I don’t think the release date would be far from now.”
Though he couldn’t provide more details on the patch’s full content, Hamaguchi said it would also address some facial lighting. “We have heard from players that in certain situations, the facial lighting makes some character shadows look very scary. So, that’s one part of the update we are working on.”
Technical comparisons have noted that Graphics mode is the way to go due to the blurry image quality of Performance mode, even though it’s in 30 frames per second. When asked which mode he prefers, Hamaguchi answered, “I like to play other games in Graphics mode as well because I like to see better graphics.”
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is available exclusively for PS5. Check out our review, where we awarded it a 10 out of 10.
