Allegedly, the Direct, which was originally scheduled for last week, was pushed back due to Xbox’s business update podcast.
Leaks claimed earlier in the month that Nintendo had a Direct presentation planned for sometime February 12 and 15. Of course, the Direct didn’t happen, which begs the question- was it ever going to? Well, a reliable leaker has claimed that it was- and, in fact, still is.
Prominent Nintendo leaker Pyoro has claimed in a series of tweets that a Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase is scheduled for this coming week. Previously, journalist Jeff Grubb stated that the Direct had indeed been planned for last week, but ended up getting delayed to make room for the Xbox business update podcast, where Microsoft announced that it would be releasing four first-party games for rival platforms– though the four games, curiously enough, were not named.
That would suggest that at least one (or more) of those games will be announced at the Direct. Allegedly, the four games in question are Hi-Fi Rush, Pentiment, Sea of Thieves, and Grounded, so it remains to be seen which of these will be officially announced for the Switch in the near future (if any).
Pyoro has also claimed that Evening Star and Private Division’s upcoming 3D platformer Penny’s Big Breakaway will be showcased at the Direct, along with getting a release date. The leaker also says a demo will be announced for Konami and WayForward’s upcoming remake, Contra: Operation Galuga.
Of course, is this does indeed turn out to be a Partner Direct, that will mean Nintendo won’t be providing any updates on any of the Switch’s first-party titles, so don’t expect to hear much about Princess Peach: Showtime!, Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD, and Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door.
