Atlus’ RPG has hit a peak of over 42,000 concurrent players on Steam instantly upon release, surpassing Persona 5 Royal’s peak.
It’s been a flurry of significant new releases in the first few weeks of 2024, and most (but not all) of them are enjoying commercial success to reflect their critical acclaim. Another name has been added to that list in the form of Atlus’ RPG Persona 3 Reload, which is out today.
Not only has the remake enjoyed widespread critical acclaim (with a Metacritic score of 89), it’s also attracting players in large numbers. As per SteamDB, instantly upon launch, Persona 3 Reload hit a peak concurrent Steam user count of 42,112 players. That’s the highest concurrent user count a Persona game has seen on Steam, with Persona 5 Royal sitting at 35,474, Persona 4 Golden at 29,984, and Persona 3 Portable at 3,515.
Persona 3 Reload’s instant success on Steam is, interestingly enough, very much comparable to how fellow Sega RPG Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth launched last week, hitting a peak of 46,161 players, which, at the time of writing, is slightly higher than Persona 3 Reload’s. Whether the latter can climb higher remains to be seen.
Persona 3 Reload is available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC. According to recent leaks, it will receive Persona 3 FES content as post-launch DLC, while a Nintendo Switch 2 version is also allegedly in the pipeline.
