A 3D instalment of the 2D sidescrolling beat ’em up franchise was announced by Sega at The Game Awards earlier this month.
Sega announced reboots for five of its classic franchises at The Game Awards earlier this month, and a new instalment in the Streets of Rage franchise in particular took many by surprise, not only because the series already saw a successful revival with 2020’s Streets of Rage 4, but also because Sega’s new instalment is going to be fully 3D, a first for the classic 2D sidescrolling franchise.
Now, in a presentation shared at a recent management meeting, Sega has shared some more new details about the game- chief among them being its name. Key art shared for the game (which you can view below) shows series protagonist Axel Stone looking on at the skyline of a metropolis (presumably Wood Oak City), while the logo displayed on the artwork confirms that the game is officially titled Streets of Rage Revolution.
Sega says the game will see players “take control of one of the ex-officers and make the city a place where people no longer have to walk the Streets of Rage.”
Meanwhile, the company has also confirmed that the Jet Set Radio reboot will be open world, and revealed brief, new details on the Crazy Taxi, Shinobi, and Golden Axe reboots.
