Not up to date on one of the longest-running stories in fighting games? The sequel offers recaps to get you up to speed.
New hands-on impressions for Bandai Namco’s Tekken 8 have gone live today, including details on the Story Mode. Unlike Arcade Quest, which sees players embarking on a national trip to challenge everyone, it continues the tale of the King of Iron Fist Tournament. As Xbox Wire notes, a new tournament has been created with Jin Kazama and Kazuya Mishima at odds once again.
The good news is that you haven’t played the previous games and don’t know what’s going on, Tekken 8 has digests for each mainline title. You can catch up on their stories before jumping into the sequel. It also notes that Story Mode is “more cinematic than ever”, with “cutscenes weaving fights together seamlessly.” We’ll avoid spoilers but suffice to say that it’s just as crazy and over-the-top as previous entries.
Tekken 8 launches on January 26th, 2024, for Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC. A free demo goes live on December 14th for PS5 and December 21st for other platforms.
