The base game is free-to-play, while paid editions upgrade to the Anniversary Edition. A massive new balance patch is also live.
Killer Instinct’s 10 Anniversary update and the Anniversary Edition are now live on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One and PC. The logo, theme and in-game user interface have a new color scheme that pays tribute to Killer Instinct Gold on the Nintendo 64.
The base version of the game is now free-to-play and includes Single-Player, Local and Ranked Modes. You also get one free weekly rotating fighter to play with. The Anniversary Edition replaces all other paid versions and features every piece of Premium content (current owners get a free upgrade). It also comes with a Permanent VIP Double XP Booster and special colors for Gargos on Steam.
As for the 10th Anniversary update, it makes extensive changes to 19 fighters, which is over half the roster. Matchmaking is also fully migrated to PlayFab, while the graphics on Xbox Series X/S now utilize DirectX 12. Series X can output up to 4K at 60 FPS, while Series S can hit resolutions up to 1440p at 60 FPS.
