The partnership sees both collaborating in “various global business fields, including mobile” and fostering “strategic synergy.”
After rumors last year about NCSoft working on an MMO based on Guerrillaâs Horizon series, Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced a strategic global business partnership with the publisher. The partnership will see both companies collaborating in âvarious global business fields, including mobileâ and fostering âstrategic synergy.â
NCSoft president and CEO Taekjin Kim said, âThis partnership with Sony Interactive Entertainment is the beginning of our efforts to build various synergies together, utilizing both companiesâ core competencies, technological capabilities, and expertise. We will deliver a new and enjoyable experience to our audience across and beyond genres and regions.â
Jim Ryan, Sony Interactive Entertainment president and CEO, added, âPartnering with NCSoft advances our strategy to expand beyond console and broaden PlayStationâs reach to a wider audience. Like Sony Interactive Entertainment, NCSoft shares a similar vision in creating high-quality, impactful entertainment experiences for players everywhere, and together weâre excited to collaborate to push the boundaries of gaming further.â
NCSoft is known for MMOs like Lineage 1 and 2, Blade and Soul, Guild Wars 1 and 2, and more. It has several other titles in the works, like Throne and Liberty, a free-to-play, multi-platform MMORPG; Project LLL, a third-person MMO shooter launching in 2024 for consoles and PC; Project G, an MMO real-time strategy game for mobiles and PC; and more.
As for the Horizon MMO, reportedly codenamed Project H, the company was allegedly recruiting last year as development ramped up. NCSoft didnât outright deny its existence but did say itâs âdifficult to confirm information about unpublished projects that are currently under development.â Stay tuned for more details on its upcoming projects and potential new titles with Sony.
