The survival adventure is a “major pipeline” title for publisher Krafton. An official announcement from Unknown Worlds is still pending.
Job listings for Unknown Worlds may have teased a new entry in the Subnautica series as far back as April 2022, but we now have confirmation. Krafton’s Q3 2023 earnings results confirmed that the next Subnautica is in development and targeting launch in the first half of 2025.
Not much is known, except for the unnamed title being a survival/adventure game like its predecessors. It’s a “major pipeline” title for the publisher, alongside PUBG Black Budget, an extraction shooter from PUBG Games that aims to launch in the second half of 2024, and Project Gold Rush, an action-adventure sandbox that’s also targeting release in the first half of 2025.
After launching in 2018 out of Steam Early Access, Unknown Worlds’ Subnautica sold over five million copies by January 2020. It’s garnered extensive acclaim as one of the best survival titles ever. The developer followed up with Subnautica: Below Zero, which also earned praise from critics.
