Shantae Advance: Risky Revolution Announced for Nintendo Switch

Initially incomplete, the 2D platformer is finally launching in 2024. It’s also coming to Game Boy Advance with a compatible cartridge

Initially planned for release on Game Boy Advance (complete with a compatible cartridge produced with Limited Run Games), WayForward’s Shantae Advance: Risky Revolution is coming to Nintendo Switch. Both versions will arrive in Summer 2024. Check out the latest gameplay trailer below.

Shantae Advance: Risky Revolution is an unfinished title in the series, which halted development in 2004 and existed only as a demo. However, with series director Matt Bozon, creator Erin Bozon and programmer Michael Stragey reunited, it’s finally a game that channels the GBA aesthetic.

The platformer is set between the first game and Shantae: Risky’s Revenge, as the protagonist ventures to Sequin Land to deal with Risky Boots, who uncovers a device that can rotate the continent. In addition to six transformations and rotating stages to access new paths (along with venturing into the background), players can expect a four-player Battle Mode.
