Arkane Studios’ open world first person shooter launches for Xbox Series X/S and PC under a week from now, on May 2.
From Dishonored and Prey to Deathloop and more, Arkane Studios has delivered a number of excellent experiences over the years, and its next game is now around the corner. Redfall will see Arkane taking its first crack at both, co-op gameplay and an open world setting, and ahead of its imminent release, Bethesda has released a launch trailer that offers a meaty look at what the game will have in store. Check it out below.
Set in the titular island town of Redfall, the first person shooter sees players stepping into the shoes of one of four protagonists – Layla, Jacob, Remi, and Devinder – who find themselves stranded on the island, which has been taken over by vampires and brought to ruin. Arkane says the game will blend the studio’s typical gameplay strengths of emergent gameplay and player agency in an open world setting with its own flavour.
Recently, it was confirmed that Redfall will not feature 60 FPS support at launch, though Arkane says a Performance mode will be added through a free post-release update. Meanwhile, if you want to play through the entire game solo, you’ll still need a persistent internet connection- though the developer is working to address that following launch as well. Redfall will also supposedly be Arkane’s most supported game post-launch to date.
Redfall is due out on May 2 for Xbox Series X/S and PC, and will also be available via Game Pass. Pre-loading is live now across all platforms.
