Meanwhile, on the Xbox Series S, it runs at a native 1080p and 60 FPS, according to Digital Foundry’s analysis.
After nearly a decade on from its original announcement, Dead Island 2 has finally released, and while whether or not the game delivers on expectations is something some might disagree on, there’s little question that on the technical front, it’s a solid experience. In fact, according to Digital Foundry’s technical analysis of the game, on current-gen machines in particular, Dead Island 2 runs very well.
According to the analysis, on PS5 and Xbox Series X, the action RPG runs at a native 3072×1728 resolution, and maintains a perfectly stable 60 FPS frame rate on the former, while only suffering some occasions drops on the latter. Meanwhile, on Xbox Series S, while the resolution is knocked down to a native 1080p, it does maintain 60 FPS gameplay, with some rare instances of the frame rare dropping to the high fifties.
In our review of Dead Island 2, we awarded it a score of 8/10, saying, “Dead Island 2 isn’t ground-breaking, but it’s a hell of a lot of fun. With its vibrant yet bloody take on the undead streets of LA, its brutal and enjoyable combat, and its gleeful excess of gore, it delivers a solid experience that’s well worth your time.”
Dead Island 2 is available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
