Mortal Kombat 1 Year 2 to Be Revealed on July 26, Next Update “Takeda” Patch Overview Revealed

With NetherRealm Studios delivering a slew of new fighters as DLC in Mortal Kombat 1’s first year, the studio has confirmed that they are not done supporting the game, as fans can expect to hear about the Mortal Kombat 1 Year 2 plans at the San Diego Comic-Con happening later this month!

This was announced by the studio over on Twitter/X, where the info will be shared during the Mortal Kombat SDCC panel.

As you can see, it’ll take place on July 26 at 2 pm PT/5 pm ET/5 am HKT. While the actual panel won’t be livestreamed, chances are, we’ll be getting snippets of it and info from the community.

Before the Mortal Kombat San Diego Comic-Con panel hits, NetherRealm is set to showcase our first look at Takeda this Monday, July 15 at 8 am CT/6 am PT/9 am ET/9 pm HKT per NetherRealm. While Takeda has no firm release date yet, NetherRealm boss Ed Boon did confirm that the character will be playable on the weekend of July 19 at the EVO fighting game tournament in Vegas!

Boon also confirmed that a new Mortal Kombat 1  title update will be released alongside the character release. This MK1 patch will not only contain bug fixes, but balance adjustments as well with significant improvements to roster fighters such as:

  • Nitara (some SERIOUS buffs)
  • Li Mei (new pop-up combo string)
  • Quan Chi (new portal boot kick)
  • Scorpion (buff to EX-teleport)
  • Krazy buff to uppercut jump cancel.

The Takeda build will also house buffs to Kameo fighters including:

  • Frost (new ambush move)
  • Scorpion (new ambush move)
  • Sektor (missile improvements)
  • Cyrax (bomb improvements)
  • Goro (many new ambush cancel options)

Note that these are not the complete lists of buffs and adjustments, as the detailed notes will be released “early next week.”

In addition to that, Boon mentions that not long ago, they asked for feedback on which five Mortal Kombat 1 roster fighters players felt could use the most love, as well as the five Kameo fighters who needed the “most love” as well. Here are the results:

  • Geras
  • Havik
  • Shang Tsung
  • Sub-zero
  • Quan Chi
  • Nitara

Finally, in terms of feedback, while Boon was expecting “More Ambush Moves: to dominate the recent survey, it seems players want more fighters (roster or Kameo) to be the most wanted feature!

Once the Takeda gameplay video is out, we’ll let our readers know.
