The newly released RPG outsold Super Mario RPG remake’s launch sales in the UK, and matched the initial sales of the previous Paper Mario title.
Demand for a remake of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door had been high for a long time, and now that the beloved RPG has been brought over to the Switch, its initial sales are reflecting that high demand.
As per data shared by GamesIndustry’s Christopher Dring on Twitter, Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door was on top of last week’s charts for the highest selling games in the UK in terms of physical sales. As per Dring, Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door’s Switch remake has not only seen higher initial sales than last year’s remake of Super Mario RPG, it has also matched the launch sales of 2020’s Paper Mario: The Origami King.
How well the game will end up selling in the long run remains to be seen, but based on its initial sales and the widespread critical acclaim it has enjoyed, hopefully, the remake will perform well on the charts all over the world.
