The DLC will add a new endgame activity in the form of Kairos Mode, a survival mode that will see you fighting through 20 increasingly difficult stages.
Final Fantasy 16: The Rising Tide is going to be the action RPG’s final piece of post-launch content (probably), so appropriately enough, in addition to adding plenty of new story content, a new area to explore, a new Eikon to defeat in battle, and more, it’s also going to add new endgame content for players to dive into.
At a recent PAX East panel, producer Naoki Yoshida and DLC director Takeo Kujiraoka revealed Kairos Gate, a new survival mode that will serve as a new endgame activity for Final Fantasy 16. Unlocked after completing the base game and The Rising Tide, Kairos Gate will task players with fighting through 20 increasingly harder stages.
Players will earn points based on their performance at the end of each stage, which can then be used to enhance abilities. Each stage will also end with new items and weapons being rewarded, and after each stage, you’ll return to home base, where you’ll make preparations for the next stage.
Kairos Gate will also feature multiple boss fights, while getting S rank on each stage on Final Fantasy difficulty will also unlock a new, secret stage and boss fight. Check out the panel presentation below for more details.
Final Fantasy 16: The Rising Tide launches for PS5 on April 18.
