CEO Johan Pilestedt says, “We want an environment that’s supportive, fun and where we all are fighting on the same side!”
By now, it’s no secret that Helldivers 2 is a success for Arrowhead Game Studios and Sony after just a week of launching on PC and PS5. It’s sold nearly a million copies and reached over 200,000 peak concurrent players on Steam. Such is the game’s success that even titles like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 can’t compare in terms of players (on Steam, at least).
Of course, both titles have different audiences, and some believe it’s best to enjoy Helldivers 2 for what it is. Arrowhead CEO Johan Pilestedt agreed with the statement, adding, “We will do our best to build Helldivers 2 into a long-lasting and successful game and a beloved IP. But it hasn’t happened overnight. This is just the beginning.”
However, one thing that fans shouldn’t expect at any point is PvP. “We’ll ‘never’ add a PvP-mode. This is to reduce toxic elements in the community. We want an environment that’s supportive, fun and where we all are fighting on the same side!”, said Pilestedt in another tweet.
Helldivers 2 will receive new enemies, objectives, biomes and story updates for Galactic War, with Arrowhead working to expand its team to facilitate future content. A roadmap has yet to be revealed, so stay tuned for more updates.
